The first volume, A Year of Poetry Tea Time, is designed to help introduce you and your listeners to poetry of many styles. With all the poems tucked into one book, you won’t have to search through volumes and volumes of poetry collections. Not only will it become your go-to book for poetry tea time, but also bedtime, mom school, classroom, homeschool, and more. You will learn how to hold an intimate to large poetry tea time, how to identify different styles of poetry, the history of tea, short bios on every poet included in the book and more. This book has been the backbone of my poetry teatime class in our homeschool co-op. It has many wonderful poems, explanations on different types of poetry, information on tea, and recipes for treats. Anything I need I can find in this book, and then I supplement with picture books from the library. Great resource!

This book has everything! There is a section on etiquette and helping you plan a party. I loved how it goes over the different forms and is filled with poetry by past and present poets. There are recipes too! It is an amazing resource to use with your kids or for an adult poetry and tea as well.

Christine Owens does a fabulous job making teaching poetry to our children not only easy but very enjoyable. There are more than enough poems selected for each month to have this supply you with a full year of studying poetry. The selection of poems cover multiple countries and time periods. I was delighted to find how many little extras Christine thought of including to round out the tea party lessons. Details like putting definitions at the bottom of the poems and a glossary at the back of the book. There are bios on the poets in the back as well as the country anthems. She pulled together many delicious recipes for tea time, as well as details on how to throw a poetry dinner party. There is so much included, but it isn’t overwhelming because right at the beginning Christine created a how to use this book, and breaks down all the parts. She gives questions for discussing the poems with your children, and puts all the resources you need right there at your finger tips. I definitely highly recommend this book. It far exceeded my expectations, and I plan on buying her previous poetry book and future two as they come out in this series.

A beautifully curated open-and-go poetry curriculum that includes history, vocabulary, fun activities, recipes, and writing prompts. I love that she included a breakdown of each type of poem you will encounter in the book so you have the tools to write your own. Another thing I love about this book is the fact that it's for all ages!

The activities in this book look like things I would actually try, and the author biographies are wonderfully interesting considering the mix of poets represented. I think that mix is what makes this book so unique and special. The result is a kaleidoscope of poetry, from modern and historic poets, adults and children alike, so that everyone should be able to find something to delight in. I love that first-timers and famed poets are intermixed throughout the book. What an inspiration for aspiring poets of all ages!

This book has so many kinds of poetry in it. I homeschool my kids, and I know that this book would be amazing for my kids. I was planning on being a school teacher "when I grew up," and I would have loved this. The poetry writing lessons are made super simple. There are pictures of the poets with bios, fun, super-simple summer treats to make for a hot day, and tons of poems. A must have in my book.

What a lovely book! My daughter is memorizing poems for school, and there are a wealth of beautiful, inspiring poems contained here.To sum up my feelings about this book, I'll share one of the poems contained within:A book is a present you can open twice,Full of adventure, full of advice. It tells of treasures and teaches of kings,A book is a bird that always has wings. It travels you near and takes you afar,It shows you the moon and the brightest star.A book is a door to marvelous lands,The world is all yours—right in your hands.
